Sportive activities

Do you like to stay active during your holiday? In our region, you can go hiking, cycling, swimming or kayaking.

Cycling

You can enjoy fun routes here by regular bike, electric bike or MTB. It is a hilly landscape, with steep hills here and there, and depending on the direction you go, the landscape can be very different. On the way to Gavaudun, Biron and Lacapelle-Biron you enter wooded areas, these are the foothills of the Causses du Quercy. Electric bikes can be hired at La Station Bee's Villeréal. There are also some major cycling routes running through the Lot-et-Garonne, you can check them out here.

Hiking

You don't have to look far: there is a marked hiking trail along Aux Martis! Consult the map of this walk here.

In our region alone (Coeur de Bastides), there are more than 60 marked walks. The website of the Office de Tourisme gives a nice overview, with each walk you can download a handy PDF map.

The GR636, which joins the GR36 in Lacapelle-Biron, passes through Paulhiac (our village). You can check these and many other hiking trails in the Lot-et-Garonne here.

On the water

We are between the Lot and Dordogne rivers; two well-known rivers that have helped shape the landscape. You can kayak on both rivers, but the Dordogne is more popular in this respect: the river meanders between picturesque villages, impressive castles and carved rocks and you can expect the occasional rapids. You can start at several places on the Dordogne: Domme is a great place to start, but even from, say, Siorac-en-Périgord (closer), it remains a breathtaking trip.

Swimming

Would you like to swim in natural water? On both the Dordogne and Lot rivers there are several nice places to swim. Limeuil, Martel, Puy-l'Évêque and Castelfranc are just some of the many villages that are fun to visit and have a nice beach. Closer by, 20 kilometres from us, you have lake Lougratte. This lake is part of a leisure park and is equipped with a slide and pontoon. You can also rent pedal boats, there is a snack bar and playgrounds.
